Hyderabad: With Christmas, New Year and Sankranthi holidays approaching, the Hyderabad Police have issued advisories urging residents to take extra precautions to safeguard their homes while travelling out of station.
The North Zone and East Zone police cautioned that vacant and unattended houses are often targeted by burglars during the holiday season.
Citizens have been advised to securely lock all doors and windows, inform local police stations about their travel plans, and seek assistance from neighbours or resident welfare associations to keep a watch on their homes.
The police also recommended avoiding public sharing of travel details on social media, installing CCTV cameras and alarm systems, ensuring proper lighting around houses, and safely storing valuables in bank lockers.
Accumulation of newspapers, milk packets or garbage outside homes should be avoided to prevent giving the impression of vacancy, they said.
The city police assured intensified beat patrolling in residential areas and appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity by dialling 100 or contacting the nearest police station.
Officials stressed that public cooperation is crucial in ensuring a safe and peaceful festive season.
