Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills police seized a BMW car after noticing that the car was equipped with a sophisticated, Chinese-style flip number plate system.
The incident happened on Road No 1, Jubilee Hills, past midnight, when the driver, identified as Gautham, was caught during a drunk driving check. As the driver was drunk, a police constable was shifting the car to the roadside when he pressed a button fixed near the steering and the other constables who were standing on the road noticed the number plate flipping.
Shocked over the find, the traffic police verified the chassis and engine number of the car and confirmed that the car was registered in Delhi. The police immediately seized the car. On checking the driver, with a breath analyser, Goutham’s Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) level was 137. A case was booked against him for driving in an inebriated condition.
“A complaint is made at the Jubilee Hills L&O police station against Gautham for cheating. The law and order police registered a case and are investigating it,” said Jubilee Hills Traffic Inspector, N Ravinder.
A Chinese-style flip number plate system, often referred to as a motor-powered or remote-controlled license plate flipper, is a vehicle modification device designed to hide or change a vehicle’s license plate.
