Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand on Tuesday directed officials to make foolproof security arrangements for the Ashada Masam Bonalu festival.
Reviewing the arrangements through a video conference from the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC) in Banjara Hills, the Commissioner assessed preparedness for major Bonalu temples, including Golconda, Balkampet, Ujjaini Mahankali in Secunderabad and Lal Darwaza. The festival will be held from July 16 to August 13.
Anand said the first 15 days, beginning with the Golconda Bonalu, would witness heavy pilgrim footfall and called for proactive security measures.
The Commissioner said personnel from the Task Force, Rapid Action Force, City Armed Reserve, Quick Reaction Teams and the local police would be deployed to prevent any untoward incidents. Public address systems will be installed around the temple premises to guide devotees.
Special emphasis will be placed on the safety of women devotees through continuous monitoring by SHE Teams. Police will also intensify vigil against chain snatching, mobile theft, pickpocketing and eve-teasing, while ensuring smooth traffic management and the peaceful conduct of Bonalu, Pothuraju performances and Ghatam processions, he added.
