Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar has appealed to people to remain alert and cautious against fake doctors who are putting innocent lives at risk in the name of medical treatment.

Unqualified persons posing as doctors are providing treatment without possessing the required educational qualifications or medical knowledge. “A special surveillance drive has been started against fake medical practitioners and 12 fake doctors have been identified and legal action initiated against them,” he said.

According to the Commissioner, these individuals were impersonating qualified medical professionals and prescribing antibiotics, steroids, medicines for blood pressure and diabetes, besides administering injections and intravenous fluids without proper medical assessment. “Such irresponsible treatment practices could lead to serious health complications among patients,” he said.

He urged citizens to verify the credentials of medical practitioners before seeking treatment and advised people to check whether clinics and hospitals prominently display the official registration certificate issued by the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) at their reception areas. He also said that doctors’ boards must display their names, educational qualifications and registration numbers issued by the Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC).

Citizens can verify the credentials of doctors by visiting the official TSMC website and using the Doctor Search facility to check details through the doctor’s name or registration number. If the details are not available, people should exercise caution.
