Hyderabad: As part of New Year safety measures, the Hyderabad Police have warned that drunken driving will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Special drunken driving checks will be conducted tonight at 120 locations across the city, and the drive will continue throughout the first week of January.
Authorities said anyone caught driving under the influence of alcohol will face heavy fines, seizure of vehicles, jail terms, and cancellation of driving licences.
Strict action will also be taken against rash driving, triple riding, and those creating public nuisance.
Police have appealed to citizens who consume alcohol to avoid driving and instead use cabs or designated drivers.
The public has been urged to celebrate the New Year responsibly and ensure the safety of their families, friends, and fellow road users.
