Hyderabad: A public toilet is for everyone, right? Well, this gang took the name quite literally and sold off a portable public toilet after stealing it from Malkajgiri.
However, the public toilet theft did not stay private for long and on Monday, the Malkajgiri police arrested M Jogaiah, 36, an auto-trolley driver residing in Domalguda and a native of Medak district on charges of stealing and selling a portable toilet.
According to the police, two others of the gang, Arun Kumar, a GHMC worker at Buddha Bhavan and Bikshapathi of Jain Constructions in Anandbagh in Malkajgiri were absconding.
Jogaiah, police said, stole the iron portable toilet on the instructions of Arun and Bikshapathi, and sold it to a scrap vendor at Musheerabad for Rs.45,000.
“He kept the money for his personal expenses. Following a complaint from G Raju, GHMC Deputy Commissioner, Malkajgiri Circle last week, a case was booked and with the help of surveillance cameras, Jogaiah was identified and arrested. The cash was recovered and the auto trolley was seized,” police said, adding that based on Jogaiah’s confession, Arun Kumar and Bikshapathi were also booked. Efforts were on to nab them.
