Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruti president and BRS MLC K Kavitha has urged the State government to postpone the upcoming Miss World pageant in Telangana, citing the ongoing tense security situation following India’s military operations under Operation Sindoor. Pointing to the postponement of IPL, she said it is inappropriate to hold glamour events when the nation is effectively at war.

“When there is unrest at the borders, conducting beauty pageants in the country sends a wrong message. This is the time for restraint, not spectacle,” she said. She warned that Telangana should not invite criticism for hosting such events during a sensitive time.

Kavitha led a massive rally organised by Telangana Jagruti, from Indira Park to RTC Cross Road in solidarity with the Indian Army. She garlanded the portrait of soldier Murali Nayak, who died in the recent border attacks, and raised slogans in support of the armed forces.

Speaking on the occasion, the BRS MLC praised the Army’s swift retaliation against terror camps at nine significant locations across the Line of Control. She lauded the strong retaliation to the drone and missile attacks by Pakistan targeting India’s airports.

“This is a Dharma Yuddh. India strikes with principle and precision, targeting only terror infrastructure, not civilians,” she asserted. She called Telangana Jagruti and citizens to conduct similar rallies in all districts of the State in support of the armed forces.

Responding to a question, Kavitha suggested Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to step down, if he was unable to govern or fulfil the Congress party’s poll promises. She reminded that people of the State including the government employees were only demanding for implementation of the Congress party’s electoral promises. “If the Chief Minister cannot increase revenue or deliver on his word, he should step down. He has become a laughing stock and is also bringing disrepute to the State, with his irresponsible and senseless statements,” she said.
