Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police are taking necessary steps to complete the investigation in the brutal murder of Venkata Madhavi, who allegedly was killed by her husband P Gurumurthy at their house in Meerpet, in January this year. The investigation officials are also planning to request the courts to conduct a fast-track trial in the case, even as they are preparing to file a chargesheet.

In view of the seriousness of the case, Rachakonda Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu is taking special care to ensure that there is no room for errors in the investigation.

As per available information, the collection of all evidence, including the statement of the suspect, CCTV cameras and DNA report which are crucial, has been obtained.

The Meerpet police initially registered a missing case. After examining the CCTV footages, Gurumurthy was detained and questioned when he confessed to the killing.

However, the police had tough time in nailing Gurumurthy, as there was no concrete evidence found against him at the crime spot. Subsequently, the forensic experts found a stain of a drop of blood and a hair strain from the house where the murder took place. The samples were sent to the forensic laboratory and the DNA was matched with the couple’s children. They were able to scientifically confirm that Madhavi was murdered.

Following a dispute between the couple, Gurumurthy allegedly strangled Madhavi. The body was reportedly chopped into several pieces before being boiled to bones and the remains were dumped in the lake to get rid of the evidence.
