Hyderabad rains: Banjara Hills area receives 74.5 mm of rainfall

Hyderabad: After a pause that resulted in a hot and humid weekend, heavy rains returned to Hyderabad and lashed the city on Monday afternoon.
Starting as a sudden burst, the rains were heavy in most parts of the city and suburbs, taking residents by surprise. Traffic came to a standstill at several places, and waterlogged streets made commuting difficult for hours.
By evening, Banjara Hills under Shaikpet mandal recorded 74.5 mm of rainfall within just under an hour.
According to the real-time rainfall monitoring stations of the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Bada Bazar Community Hall, First Lancer, and Ahmednagar in Asifnagar mandal received 53.3 mm, while Srinagar Colony in Khairatabad received 50.8 mm of rainfall.
Venkateshwara Colony in Banjara Hills (Shaikpet mandal) received 46.8 mm, while areas in and around Yousufguda Zonal Commissioner’s Office, Khairatabad recorded 39.5 mm.
Other localities that received significant rainfall include CESS, Khairatabad (36.3 mm), Maitrivanam (Ameerpet) (34.8 mm), Kukatpally GHMC office (34.5 mm), Asifnagar Mehdipatnam (31.5 mm), and Mehdipatnam Navodaya Community Hall in Asifnagar (30.5 mm).
