Hyderabad: Long stretches of city roads battered and filled with potholes have caused significant disruption to daily commutes.

Motorists and public transport users report delays and inconvenience during peak hours as vehicles navigate uneven surfaces and water-filled craters.

Almost three weeks are over, GHMC’s road safety drive, initiated to repair the potholes and damaged city roads, was completely halted.

Commuters raise concerns about numerous potholes and road damage on several major routes, including BHEL-Gachibowli, Madeenaguda X Roads to HiTech City, Nizampet to KPHB, Bharat Nagar to Punjagutta, Banjara Hills to Mehdipatnam, Secunderabad to L B Nagar, L B Nagar to Hayatnagar, Cyber Towers to Manikonda, and other stretches within the IT Corridor.

The apparent failure Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation in monsoon preparedness left citizens angered. Many localities report waterlogging and overflowing drains, with complaints about delayed response from civic authorities.

Citizens questioned the effectiveness of pre-monsoon desilting drives and demanded immediate intervention to prevent further inconvenience.

The lack of preparedness has raised concerns about the GHMC’s management capabilities to handle future monsoon seasons.

GHMC officials said the Engineering wing has identified a total of 10,110 potholes in the city so far, with repairs completed on 6,380 of them. Compared to the previous day, an additional 497 potholes were repaired today, adding to the 5,893 that were completed, according to GHMC’s report released on August 1.
