Hyderabad: Rash driving claims teen’s life; friend critically injured in truck collision
An 18-year-old youth died and his friend was critically injured when a rashly driven truck hit their scooter near Hanuman Temple in Jeedimetla on Sunday evening. The victim, Vinay Kumar, was crushed under the vehicle. Police have launched an investigation.
Hyderabad: A youth died and his friend was seriously injured when their scooter was hit by a rashly driven truck that mowed them down near Hanuman Temple in Jeedimetla on Sunday late evening.
A rash and negligent driving is suspected to have led to the mishap, police said.
The victim Vinay Kumar (18), a resident of Suraram who recently passed intermediate first year had joined a private company for a part time job.
According to the police, on Sunday being a holiday, Vinay along with his friend left their home to go out on a joy ride. On their way, when they reached near Hanuman Temple, a rashly driven truck hit their scooter.
Both fell on the road and Vinay was run over by the heavy vehicle. He suffered grievous injuries and died on the spot. Vishnu was injured in the crash. His condition is said to be critical.
The Jeedimetla police are investigating.
