Hyderabad: The rain gods have been quite generous towards Hyderabad this monsoon, with the city receiving rainfall in excess by about 24 per cent. Even as Tuesday saw the rains take a break after a few days of continuous showers across the city, officials said this year’s Southwest Monsoon was vigorous over Telangana, and over Hyderabad in particular.
So far, from June 1 to September 7, Hyderabad has received excess rainfall of 24 per cent, they said.

While almost all areas of the city received excess rainfall, residents of Marredpally received the most at 46 per cent excess rainfall in these three months. The area received the highest rainfall in the city of 745.6 mm against a normal seasonal rainfall of 509.4 mm.
Several other localities including Musheerabad, Ameerpet, Shaikpet, Asifnagar, and Trimulgherry also received excess rainfall ranging from 30 to 40 per cent.
According to data from the Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) of the Telangana State Development Planning Society, the city is likely to continue witnessing moderate to heavy downpour at several places over the next two days.
