Hyderabad: Relatives cry foul over teacher’s death in fire mishap
Two days after Saraswathi died, her relatives raised suspicion over her death and alleged that her husband Balakrishna was harassing her over property for quite some time

Hyderabad: The Vanasthalipuram police investigating the fire accident in which a government school teacher, Saraswathi, died, are probing the possibility of a suicide. Two days after Saraswathi died, her relatives raised suspicion over her death and alleged that her husband Balakrishna was harassing her over property for quite some time.

They have requested the police for a thorough investigation into the incident. Police said there were doubts that Saraswathi could have set herself ablaze and attempted to die by suicide. In an attempt to rescue her, Balakrishna too was injured. The cause of the fire is still being ascertained.

“She was charred to death and all the electronic appliances and furniture in the house were gutted. We are trying to find the cause of the fire,” police said, adding that Balakrishna was yet to regain consciousness.

It was on Monday that a major fire broke out in the couple’s home in FCI Colony in Vanasthalipuram. Initial reports were that an LPG leakage had triggered the fire and that Saraswathi was trapped in the blaze.
