Hyderabad: Retired army man killed, two injured in hit-and-run incident

A retired Army man was killed and two others seriously injured after a speeding Mahindra SUV allegedly rammed into them at Hydershah Kote in Hyderabad. The occupants reportedly fled the scene, while Narsingi Police registered a case and launched an investigation

Hyderabad: A retired Army man was killed and two others were seriously injured in a horrific hit-and-run accident at Hydershah Kote at Gandipet on Sunday night.

The accident occurred near SMP School when a speeding Mahindra SUV 350 allegedly rammed into a retired Army employee who was reportedly walking along the road. The impact reportedly threw him into the air, and he died on the spot.

The speeding vehicle also hit two people travelling on a bike-taxi. Both suffered serious injuries, with one of them reportedly suffering a leg fracture. They were shifted to a private hospital for treatment.

According to eye witnesses, four young men travelling in the car abandoned the vehicle at the accident spot and fled immediately after the crash.

The Narsingi Police reportedly traced the vehicle through its registration number and found that it was registered in Shamshabad.

Eyewitnesses said the car was being driven at a very high speed, causing panic among other road users. It is also suspected that the occupants might have been under the influence of alcohol, though this is yet to be confirmed by police.

Narsingi police reached the spot, registered a case and are investigating to identify and nab those responsible for the accident.

Police are also examining whether drunk driving or over speeding led to the fatal crash.
