Hyderabad: The RGIA police registered a cheating case against a couple for allegedly duping investors through chit funds.

According to the police, the complainant, M Srinivas, a reporter of a vernacular news channel from Madhura Nagar, stated that he and his family had been systematically depositing money with the suspect couple, P Surender Mudiraj and his wife, P Kavitha, for several years.

The suspects allegedly collected nearly Rs 18 lakh from Srinivas and his mother-in-law through multiple chit schemes, assuring repayment by July 2025. However, the couple failed to return the money, switched off their mobile phones, vacated their residence near Shamshabad RTC bus stand and went absconding.

Based on the complaint, the RGIA police registered a case and are investigating.
