Robbers shoot businessman, flee with Rs 6 lakh in Hyderabad
Two armed robbers shot and injured a businessman at an ATM centre in Koti and fled with Rs 6 lakh. Police suspect the assailants escaped by train after abandoning the victim’s scooter in Kacheguda

Hyderabad: The tranquillity of the early weekend hours was shattered at Koti when two robbers shot at a businessman, and decamped with a cash bag containing Rs 6 lakh at an ATM centre.
The businessman, Rinshad PV (26), a native of Kerala, had arrived at the State Bank of India ATM centre located at Bank Street, Koti, around 7 am to deposit cash. The two suspects who approached Rinshad, threatened him by showing a pistol and tried to snatch away the cash bag.
“The assailants then fired two rounds, one of which struck the victim on his right leg, causing a bleeding injury. The suspects then forcibly snatched the cash bag, took the vehicle keys and fled the spot on the victim’s vehicle,” said Hyderabad Commissioner of Police VC Sajjanar.
The suspects drove the scooter towards Chaderghat signal and proceeded to Nimboliadda, Kacheguda, where they abandoned the vehicle. After changing their clothes, they escaped on foot towards Kacheguda crossroads. “The robbers spoke in Hindi with the victim. We suspect they boarded a train at Kacheguda and escaped,” said an official.
The incident was captured by surveillance cameras installed in the vicinity. On information, senior police officials reached the spot and took up investigation. The police spoke to local eye witnesses and gathered a few clues. The robbers had arrived at the ATM centre an hour before and were waiting for someone to come.
The police are yet to question the victim to ascertain why he was carrying such a huge amount. Rinshad was shifted to a private hospital, where he underwent a surgery.
