Hyderabad: Robbers threaten shopkeeper with toy gun, decamp with Rs 5 lakh

Hyderabad: Unidentified persons struck at a grocery store and robbed its owner to the tune of Rs 5 lakh by threatening him with a toy pistol at Kompally on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred in Lakshmi Kirana General Store run by Sai Baba on the main road leading to Kompally Municipality Office.
According to the police, Sai Baba was preparing to close the shop with Rs 5 lakh in cash and a cellphone in a bag when two unidentified assailants wearing helmets and masks came on a scooter and barged into the shop.
“They approached the shop owner, brandished a toy gun, threatened him, and snatched the cash bag he had with him,” said an official.
The helper at the shop, Mohd Parvez, intervened and tried to stop them, but they fled from the spot on the two-wheeler by then.
The police are investigating. CCTV footage from the surroundings is being examined to identify and nab the robbers.
