Hyderabad: SBI Foundation donates 3.13 crore to Sparsh Hospice

Hyderabad: The SBI Foundation has donated Rs 3.13 crore to Rotary Club of Banjara Hills Charitable Trust for supporting the project “Sparsh Hospice: Centre for Palliative Care” to strengthen homecare-based palliative care program in Hyderabad and its surrounding districts to provide free home-based palliative care services to 1700 terminally ill patients from socio-economically vulnerable families.
Deputy MD (HR) & CDO of State Bank of India, Om Prakash Mishra, who is also a Director the SBI Foundation, handed over the cheque on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Om Prakash
Mishra said “the initiative will ensure affordable and accessible palliative care services to the vulnerable and marginalised sections of society through mobile medical van-based homecare services in the region.”
The project “Sparsh Hospice: Centre for Palliative Care” aims to provide door-to-door home-care services to socio-economic vulnerable families through mobile medical vans comprised of a
multidisciplinary team including nurses, doctors, social workers cum counsellors. Homecare services will include routine home visits to terminally ill patients, regular follow-up calls, tele-counselling, social support, free medicines, and bereavement support.
