Hyderabad: To decrease the load on the existing transfer stations in the city and speed up the waste disposal process, a new Secondary Collection and Transfer Points (SC&TP) has been set up in Jagadgirigutta.
In the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) circles where SC&TP are operational, the waste collected from households, roads and other public places are no longer being shifted to transfer stations before it is sent to Jawahar Nagar dump yard for recycling. Instead, the garbage is being dumped in the SC&TP and from there it is directly transported to the dump yard. The same method will be adopted in Jagadgirigutta too.
The SC&TP help address issues like hazards caused by garbage transportation in open vehicles, spillages on the roads, soil contamination, leachate and garbage being scattered near transfer stations.
Meanwhile, V Mamatha, Zonal Commissioner (Kukatpally) tweeted about the facility and said, “New secondary Transfer station (SC&TP) is ready for operations in Jagadgirigutta #kukatpallyzone”.
She added, “It has 400 MT per day capacity which can be scalable. Two static stations with additional 10 static containers dedicated. @KTRTRS @arvindkumar_ias@GadwalvijayaTRS @CommissionrGHMC.”
Taking to Twitter, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao lauded the Zonal Commissioner for setting up the SC&TP. “Good job ZC Garu,” he tweeted.
