Hyderabad: The third wave of Covid-19 driven by the Omicron variant does not seemed to have upset the wedding plans of many in the city. The auspicious first weekend of February saw a number of weddings taking place in Hyderabad even as many were seen following all Covid-related protocol.
Many function halls in different parts of the city ranging from Diamond Point to Attapur to Saidabad to Sagar Ring Road were decorated with festive lights and flowers. With Saturday being the auspicious occasion of Vasantha Panchami and Sunday also considered an auspicious day for marriages, many were seen attending marriages in traditional clothing and enjoying sumptuous meals.
“There was no alteration in plans from both the sides of the families and although we were a little sceptical about the third wave but we still went ahead as the guest list was limited. At the wedding festivities, we followed all Covid protocols by arranging sanitisers at designated spots and also encouraging guests to wear masks at all times,” says Krishna Rao, whose daughter got married on Sunday in Hyderabad.
Some areas in the city also witnessed Night Baarat with many dancing away with joy, which was then followed by a wedding reception.
