Hyderabad: Seven-member gang held for stealing iron from construction sites
Hyderabad police arrested a seven-member gang, including students and a GHMC worker, for stealing iron centring boxes from construction sites in Alwal. Property worth ₹3 lakh was recovered. A scrap dealer was held while another is absconding

Hyderabad: A seven-member gang allegedly involved in stealing iron material from construction sites in Alwal was arrested by the police on Wednesday. Property worth Rs 3 lakh was recovered from them.
The arrested are Kathula Gopal (48), a GHMC garbage picker; his son Kathula Sudheer (20), an engineering student; Durga Chaitanya (19), Dandala Ebenezer alias Bunty (19), Chodi Monna Rao (20), Gadda Sai Varun (19) – all students, and a juvenile. A scrap dealer, Mohd Zaheeruddin (28) was also arrested for purchasing the stolen property while another scrap trader Adnan Pasha is absconding.
According to the police, Durga, Bunty, Monna Rao, Sai Varun and the juvenile were previously involved in property offences in the city. “Gopal and his son Sudheer encouraged the other gang members to steal iron centring boxes from construction sites. The boxes were sold by Gopal and Sudheer to scrap dealers Zaheeruddin and Adnan Pasha,” said Alwal Inspector A Prashanth.
Following a series of thefts at construction sites, the Alwal police registered a case and apprehended the suspects. They admitted to have stolen the centring boxes from Alwal and Petbasheerabad.
All of them were produced before the court and remanded.
