Hyderabad: As many as 150 respondents including seven minors allegedly involved in cases pertaining to harassment of women were counseled by the She Teams officials here on Thursday.
The counseling was conducted during a daylong session organised by the Telangana Women Safety Wing on gender sensitisation and reasons to analyse the erratic behaviour of the respondents in various offences. Additional Director-General of Police Swathi Lakra inaugurated the counseling session.
She said the police was committed towards people-friendly approaches and counseling was one such methodology. She reiterated that it was a way for the suspect to reform himself and reminded that the law would take its own course if deviation repeats.
A brochure was also released for She Team officers on ‘Effective Counseling Techniques’.
Over 100 She Teams officers from 26 districts including four Additional Superintendents of Police and half a dozen Deputy Superintendents of Police attended the session.
Deputy Inspector General of Police B Sumathi said the counseling module was designed in such a way that it is a process based approach which is being standardised. Research was done to develop the module based on the respondent’s behaviour towards committing such acts.
