Hyderabad: Shops and commercial establishments at Gulzar Houz were closed on Monday as a mark of condolences to the family.

The Gold, Silver and Pearls Traders Association held a condolence meeting in the afternoon and observed a two-minute silence.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao met the association members who complained that the fire department did not respond in the way it should have during the incident. They complained the firemen arrived at the spot without carrying proper equipment and it led to the huge loss of lives.

The association members demanded the State government immediately take corrective steps and ensure such incidents do not occur again.

The Gulzar Houz, Pathergatti, Devan Devdi, Madina Building and Patel Market have several hundred shops in narrow lanes and fire accidents are regularly reported.
