Hyderabad: Two siblings died on the spot after the bike they were travelling on was mowed down by a truck at Kothur on the city outskirts on Friday.
The victims were identified as J Chandrashekar (25), a pharma company employee at Jeedimetla and M Mamatha (24), a software professional working at Kukatpally.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 1 pm, when the two were returning on Chandrashekar’s bike after attending a wedding. When they reached the Indian Oil Corporation filling station at Kothur, the driver of a truck from Tamil Nadu suddenly took a diversion towards the filling station.
“The truck collided with the bike, which was on the left side. As a result, Chandrashekar lost control of the vehicle and the bike skidded and came under the rear wheel of the truck,” police said, adding that both died on the spot.
The Kothur police have booked a case of negligence driving causing death and took up investigation.
