Hyderabad: As kids when Ravi Teja and Sai Teja would be asked what they wanted to become in their lives, both the brothers had the same answer – travellers.

While for many kids these answers change once they grow old, Ravi (27) and Sai (24) worked on nurturing their childhood dreams and are now running a successful adventure sports company, Cliff-inn Adventure, in Hyderabad.

“As far as I remember, I always wanted to travel, especially to the mountains,” says Sai, who is a trained mountaineer from Indian Himalayan Center for Adventure and Eco Tourism (IHCAE) in Gangtok. “Passionate about mountaineering, I worked under K Ranga Rao, the founder of Adventure Club of Telangana. I learned a lot from him, but I wanted to do something of my own, so I started this company along with my brother in 2019,” he adds.

Since then, the duo has undertaken about 100 treks successfully, not just to the nearby hills, but even in the Himalayas.

“We also arrange smaller treks for families and corporate employees, who do not have much time to spend in nature. For them we arrange campsites near forest areas, where they can relax for the night before returning back to their respective offices,” Sai says.

Interestingly, Sai Teja has also trained Telukunta Virat Chandra, the eight-year-old from the city who was recently conferred with Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar award.

Giving insight about how they prepare their clients for a trek, Ravi says, “We have seen that several people are interested in going to the mountains for trekking, but do not have much idea about how to do so. That’s where we pitch in. Once someone approaches us for a trek, we make a training schedule for them that they can do on their own. For those, who cannot do the training, we offer a personal service as well. We groom them properly before taking them to the mountains and ensure that everyone is fit for the trek. We have all A-grade equipment to ensure everyone’s safety.”

The two brothers, who had to overcome a lot of challenges for their company, are now aiming at taking adventure sports to the common people, especially kids.

Sai says, “Adventure sports teach a lot to an individual. Apart from being a team player, surviving in such harsh conditions teaches you to be resilient. We don’t just offer our services to adults, but also kids who are enthusiastic about mountaineering. Our mission is to ensure that adventure sports become part of the schools’ curriculum.”
