Hyderabad: Sightsavers India, a voluntary organisation involved in preventing avoidable blindness, has announced that applications for its 2025 cohort for the Sightsavers India Fellowship Program are now open for interested individuals.
India Fellowship Program is aimed at addressing the disparity of severe shortage of eye specialists in rural areas, when compared to urban centres, said RN Mohanty, CEO, Sightsavers India, adding that the Fellowship offers hands-on clinical training, community engagement experience, a chance to participate in eye health surveys, and exposure to high-volume settings in rural and peri-urban areas.
The 24-month structured program includes district postings, one-on-one clinical-surgical mentorship, participation in community-based surveys and self-transformation mentoring. Fellows will also receive an attractive stipend and residential facility.
The residential Fellowship is designed for PGs/ diploma holders (ophthalmology) (MS/DO/DNB) from recognised institute/university in India. Current-year pass-outs are also eligible to apply.
The last date to submit applications is August 15, 2025, and the Fellowship will begin in September 2025.
