Hyderabad: Director-General of Police M Mahendar Reddy on Friday said a separate organization – Telangana State Society for Public Safety – would be established for maintenance of nine lakh surveillance cameras installed across the State.
The decision to set up the society was taken to resolve the problems in taking up repairs to the surveillance cameras installed by the State government as well as the public in their residential areas. The society will be headed by the Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order) Jitender.
He said the move would enable the police department to continuously take up repairs to the CCTVs and plans have also been drawn up to develop a separate software for maintaining the cameras, which are giving vital clues to the investigators in several sensational cases.
Mahendar Reddy later presented scholarships to 25 students, who lost their parents working in the department due to Covid-19. The department established another organization – Telangana State Police Welfare Society for the health protection of over one lakh police personnel and the staff.
