Around 15,000 persons from the city and neighbouring districts graced the Annakut and also contributed in cash and kind towards running the cow shelter, a press release said. A Pune-based spiritual musical group engaged the gathering with bhajans, prayers and spiritual songs. Many cow related products were on display and sale.
Dharam Raj Ranka of Satyam Shivam Sundaram Gau Nivas said the Annakut festival is celebrated at the beginning of each New Year and lots of variety of food items prepared with love and devotion are offered to God. Traditionally Annakut symbolised devotion through offering the first harvest and distributing this to all.
