Hyderabad: Palliative care facility Sparsh Hospice on Friday launched ‘Guardian of Sparsh’ initiative aimed at involving public to become monthly donors, which will enable it to continue providing care for terminally ill cancer patients for free.

Actor Sreeleela, who unveiled the campaign, also pledged her support for the cause. “You can become a Guardian of Sparsh with just Rs 500 a month, or more if you wish, for three years,” she said.

The programme aims to onboard at least 5,000 guardians, helping Sparsh raise Rs 50 lakh per month or Rs 6 crore per year, the estimated cost to keep the services entirely free for the patients.

“All our services are offered at no cost to patients,” said Dr Subrahmanyam and Suresh Reddy, founder trustees of Sparsh Hospice.
