Hyderabad: Speeding car plunges into lake at Suraram, no casualties

A speeding car went out of control and plunged into the Katta Maisamma Cheruvu at Suraram near Hyderabad on Wednesday. No injuries were reported. The passengers fled after the incident. Police suspect rash driving or drunk driving caused the mishap

Hyderabad: In a freak incident, a speeding car went out of control and ran into the Katta Maisamma Cheruvu in Suraram on the city outskirts on Wednesday.

No casualties were reported and rash and negligent driving on the part of the driver is suspected to have caused the mishap.

The incident occurred when the car was proceeding from Dulapally towards Shapur Nagar. As per available information, when it reached the bund of the lake, the driver is suspected to have lost control of the steering and hit the iron railing at the lake. With the same speed, the vehicle fell into the lake. However, the persons in the car escaped unhurt in the incident.

Soon after the incident, the passengers fled from the spot, abandoning the vehicle.

On receiving a call from a motorist, the police team reached the spot and, with the help of a crane, pulled out the car and towed it away to the police station.

Police are investigating if the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
