Task Force, South West Zone team and GHMC officials with the seized offal after carrying out at raid at the A to Z Sheep & Goat offal store, in Hyderabad.
Hyderabad: The Task Force (South-West) team along with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials raided the A to Z Sheep and Goat offal store at Mangalhat and nabbed one person for illegally preserving and selling stale offal of animals on Wednesday.
Officials seized 12 tonnes of offal of goat and sheep worth Rs 8 lakh.
The arrested person was identified as Mohd Afroz (40), owner of A to Z Sheep and Goat offal store and a resident of Aman Nagar Colony in Mangalhat.
According to the police, Afroz was found illegally purchasing the stale offal of sheep and goats at a cheap rate from the wholesale market and preserving them at his store unhygienically. He further supplied them at hotels, functions, and events endangering human life.
Based on a tip-off, the police raided the premises and nabbed Afroz, apart from seizing offal including trotters, heads, brain, kidneys, and liver of goats and sheep, altogether worth Rs 8 lakh.
