Hyderabad startup Automate.io gets acquired by Notion
Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao also congratulated the successful exit of Automate.io and welcomed Notion to Telangana.

Hyderabad: Providing further impetus to Hyderabad-based startups, five-year-old workflow automation company Automate.io has been acquired by San Francisco-based Notion. Through this acquisition, Notion will integrate all of Automate.io employees and the latter will work independently. This will also mark the entry of Notion into the Indian market as it plans to set up its first engineering centre outside of the US in Hyderabad.
Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao also congratulated the successful exit of Automate.io and welcomed Notion to Telangana. “Congratulations to Ashok Gudibandla and Automate.io on your successful startup exit. Notion welcome to Telangana, as you set up your first engineering centre outside of the USA in Hyderabad,” he tweeted.
Without divulging the financial details of the transaction, Notion said that through this acquisition it is accelerating its strategy to build high-quality, native integrations for teams and businesses and automate the process of business operations.
On the acquisition, Automate.io founder and CEO Ashok Gudibandla in a blog post said, “Since 2016, Automate.io has had a dream run – impacting 40,000+ businesses across the globe, helping them automate repetitive tasks, and be more efficient. Automate.io and Notion have a lot in common in terms of customers, employees, and mission. We believe our product complements Notion’s as well. Notion offers building blocks that one can put together to create their own custom software. And Automate.io is a tool that connects 200+ popular apps seamlessly.”
He confirmed that Automate.io will continue to work independently and it will continue to serve small businesses and individuals maximize their business’ efforts.
“Joining forces with Automate makes Hyderabad the location of our fifth Notion office – along with Dublin, Tokyo, New York, and San Francisco. It will also be our first engineering centre outside of the US, where we plan to grow a talented technical team over the next several years,” Notion’s co-founder and CEO Ivan Zhao said in a blog post.
