Hyderabad surgeon elected Global Forum of Cancer Surgeons president

Hyderabad-based senior oncologist Dr T Subramanyeswara Rao has been elected president of the Global Forum of Cancer Surgeons. He aims to improve access to cancer treatment worldwide, tailoring care to suit different countries and healthcare conditions.

Hyderabad: Senior cancer surgeon from Hyderabad and Medical Director of Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (BIACH&RI), Dr T Subramanyeswara Rao, has been elected as the president of the Global Forum of Cancer Surgeons, a high-level organisation that unites cancer surgeons from across the globe.

Born into a farming family in Nalgonda, Dr T Subramanyeswara Rao pursued his MBBS and Master’s degrees at Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal, and Osmania Medical College and General Hospital. Later, he worked as a senior cancer surgeon and faculty at MNJ Regional Cancer Hospital, Red Hills.


The senior oncologist was also instrumental in starting M Ch (Surgical Oncology) and DNB programmes at MNJ Cancer Hospital before moving on to become the Medical Director of Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital.

On the occasion, Dr T Subramanyeswara Rao was felicitated by the hospital management and staff, led by Chairman Nandamuri Balakrishna and Nara Brahmani, in the presence of senior oncologists.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr T Subramanyeswara Rao said, “As the president of the Global Forum of Cancer Surgeons, I will strive to make cancer treatment accessible to all, tailoring approaches to suit the specific conditions and realities of these nations.”
