Hyderabad: The Task Force (South-East) team along with the Monda Market police nabbed a drug peddler and a consumer and seized 1.1 kg of marijuana and 20 grams of charas, altogether worth Rs 70,000 in Market Street on Friday night.
The arrested persons are Nilesh Sharma, the drug peddler who is a native of Madhya Pradesh and running a tea stall in Market Street. The drug consumer is Mohd Aqueeb, a centering worker from Bowenpally. The main drug peddlers Sameer and Arbaz are absconding.
According to the police, Nilesh, whose tea business seems to be not much profitable for his expenses, decided to sell drugs and make easy money. One of his customers, Sameer informed him that there was good demand for marijuana in Monda Market area. He shared Arbaz’s contact details.
“Then he planned to sell marijuana at his tea stall. He procured marijuana from Arbaz from Parbani in Maharashtra and smuggled it into Hyderabad and sold to local consumers, mostly his customers,” said a police official.
In March, he procured about 1.5 kgs of marijuana and while he sold some of it, he concealed the remaining in his tea stall.
Based on a tip-off, the shop was raided and the duo was nabbed.
