Hyderabad: Teacher arrested for grooming, eloping, and marrying minor

A 27-year-old private school teacher in Pocharam was arrested for allegedly grooming a Class X student, eloping, and secretly marrying her. The incident surfaced when the girl’s mother discovered the marriage. Police registered a case following the complaint.

Hyderabad: A private school teacher was arrested for allegedly grooming a minor student, eloping with her, and secretly marrying her in Pocharam in the suburbs.

The incident, which occurred under the Pocharam IT Corridor Police Station limits, came to light.

According to police, P Maiteen (27), a physics teacher at a private school in Pocharam, had developed an illicit relationship with a Class X student from the same school and allegedly misled the minor with false promises, leading her into a relationship.

The two later eloped and reportedly got married without the knowledge of the girl’s family.

The incident surfaced a few days ago when the girl’s mother noticed a ‘mangalsutra’ in the girl’s neck and questioned her. It was then that she revealed the details of the relationship and marriage.

Shocked family members approached the school management, but alleged negligence and an unsatisfactory response forced them to file a police complaint, though delayed.

Based on a complaint, the Pocharam IT Corridor police booked a case and arrested the suspect.
