Hyderabad techie dies by suicide after online investment fraud loss
A software engineer in Medipally died by suicide after reportedly losing Rs. 10 lakh in an online scam. In another case, a 19-year-old woman was found dead at her home in Nallakunta. Police have registered separate cases and investigations are ongoing
Hyderabad: A 22-year-old software engineer died by suicide at his residence in Medipally, allegedly after losing money in an online investment fraud.
According to the police, the victim, Kumar Pranay, was employed with a private MNC and had reportedly invested Rs. 10 lakh in an online investment scheme. After losing the entire amount, he allegedly slipped into depression and took the extreme step by hanging himself. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
In a separate incident, a 19-year-old woman died by suicide at her house in Nallakunta.
According to the police, the deceased, G Anjali, a resident of Tilaknagar, was living with her parents. On Tuesday evening, while her mother had gone to the market, Anjali was found hanging from the ceiling fan in one of the rooms upon her return. Family members said Anjali had been suffering from depression due to personal issues. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
