Hyderabad: A woman software employee died by suicide in her house in Raidurgam on Monday. She is suspected to have committed suicide allegedly due to the harassment from her husband.

The woman, identified as Devika (35), from Vikarabad district had completed her MBA and was working for a software firm in Hitec City. She fell in love with one Satish who studied at IIT Kharagpur and currently working in a software company.

According to the police, the duo got married in last August in Goa and moved into an apartment in Raidurgam. However, the couple has reportedly been having frequent fights over trivial matters for the past few months.

After one such argument, Devika hanged herself from the ceiling fan in the bedroom when her husband was sleeping in the hall. She was found dead by him later.

Devika’s parents alleged that harassment from her husband forced her to commit suicide. Her mother Ramadevi in her police complaint said Satish used to harass and torture her both mentally and physically for money. Devika’s family members also raised suspicion as to how Satish could not know about something happening in the adjacent room in the same house.

On receiving information, the Raidurgam police visited the spot and took up investigation.

“We did not find any suicide note at crime spot. The family members filed a complaint alleging dowry harassment, following which a case has been booked and investigated,” police said.

Investigators said based on the outcome of the probe and further details, necessary action will be taken.
