Hyderabad techie ends life after losing money in online betting
Anusha, a 25-year-old software engineer from KPHB, died by suicide after reportedly losing money in online betting. She had borrowed funds and pledged her gold to cover losses. Police said fear of disclosure to her husband may have driven the act.
Hyderabad: A woman software professional, who lost money in online betting, died by suicide at KPHB on Tuesday night. The incident came to light only on Thursday.
According to the police, Anusha (25), who worked with a private company, was believed to be addicted to online betting. Her husband works as a software professional too.
On Tuesday night, when her husband was away, Anusha allegedly hanged herself to the ceiling fan in the house. “Anusha had lost money in online betting and to make up the losses she borrowed money and pledged her gold. She got afraid that her husband would know about it and committed suicide,” said KPHB Inspector, S Rajasekhar Reddy.
After coming home, Anusha’s husband found her hanging and alerted the police. The body was shifted to a mortuary and autopsy performed. A case is registered.
