Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Cybercrime police on Friday nabbed a teenage boy on charges of stalking and harassing a woman with a fake Instagram account.
The arrested person was identified as P Varun (19), a diploma student from Jagityal district. According to the police, Varun created a fake Instagram account and sent a follow request to the complainant on Instagram, and she accepted it, believing it to be her friend’s account.
“Since then, she started receiving threatening messages from the suspect saying he would morph her pictures and upload them on dating websites and harassed her,” police said, adding that Varun sent friend requests to random women using fake Instagram accounts and thus came into contact with the victim.
Based on her complaint, the Rachakonda Cybercrime police booked a case and with the help of technical clues, the suspect was identified and arrested.
