Hyderabad: Teenager drowns in swimming pool in Alwal
An 18-year-old Loyola Academy student drowned during swimming practice at a private pool in Alwal, Hyderabad. The teen reportedly slipped underwater after the session ended. Despite rescue efforts by staff, she was declared dead. Police have launched an investigation
Hyderabad: A teenager drowned allegedly during a swimming practice session at a private pool in Alwal on Sunday.
The victim, Vaishnavi (18) from Jagadevpur in Siddipet district, was a student at Loyola Academy. Alongside her studies, she had enrolled in the NCC Navy Wing and was known among friends as an active and disciplined student. She was staying with friends at a private hostel in Saibaba Nagar.
According to information available, Vaishnavi had been attending regular swimming practice at a private pool located in Old Alwal’s Suryanagar area. She and her friends practiced daily between 4 pm and 5 pm. On Sunday evening, being a holiday, she reportedly reached the pool around 4.30 pm along with her friends Gautami and Praneetha.
As the session time ended, most of the swimmers came out of the pool. However, Vaishnavi and another friend, Priyanka, remained inside. It was then, suddenly, Vaishnavi reportedly slipped underwater and drowned.
Priyanka immediately alerted the coach and other staff members.
The management pulled her out of the pool, but she was unresponsive and had died by then.
The police are investigating to ascertain the exact cause of death.
