Hyderabad: Hyderabad is immersed in the festive spirit of Dasara, with people from all walks of life gearing up to celebrate Vijayadasami on Thursday.

From the Durga puja pandals brimming with devotees to temples extending their hours on Wednesday to bless vehicles for Ayudha Puja and Bathukamma, the city is abuzz with festive celebrations.

The fruit and flower wholesale markets at Jambagh and Gudimalkapur were jam-packed, while the local markets were teeming with residents purchasing puja material for Dashami celebrations on Thursday. It is not just the traditional markets such as Begum Bazaar, Sultan Bazaar, Begumpet, Ameerpet and Monda Market, but even the upscale malls and large commercial establishments that have been tastefully decorated with festive illumination and flowers.

With Ayudha Puja being observed on Wednesday, temples witnessed a rush of devotees and their vehicles. RTC buses plying within the city and districts were decked up with banana leaves and flowers.

A large number of Durga pandal organisers and temple committees conducted Navaratri puja, while members of the Bengali community organised Annadanam and prasadam distribution on Wednesday.
