The north zone police after an extensive investigation that included scanning footage from more than 100 surveillance cameras apprehended the three offenders.

The suspects Rajender Singh, a private employee from Nizamabad who was involved in 23 cases across the State, and Banda Singh, a resident of Banswada, who was involved in four cases, along with a minor boy were found to be involved in the instances of shutter lifting.

S Rashmi Perumal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Zone, said the suspects travelled to Hyderabad by RTC buses and would then steal bikes to use in the commission of offence. The two-wheeler used in this particular case was found to have been stolen from the Gandhi Hospital parking area, she said.

They would scout in advance to narrow down on shops located on busy roads with fast-moving traffic or shops in cellars. After breaking open the counter cabinets, they would steal cash and other items and then would flee on the stolen two-wheeler and escape using public transport, she said.

The north zone police appealed to the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities in their neighbourhood using Dial 100. Further, shop owners are advised to use standard locks and alarm systems to safeguard their premises.
