Hyderabad: Three persons who duped a man of Rs 9.44 lakh on the pretext of arranging a loan through a popular finance company were arrested by the Cybercrime police on Tuesday. The police seized eight mobile phones, Rs 2 lakh, debit cards and 10 bank passbooks from them.
The arrested persons were Vijay Bhawan (27), Kapil Tagore (28) and Abhay Verma (20), all from New Delhi. According to the police, the three contacted one person from Secunderabad after obtaining his details from some sources. One of the suspects called up the victim and introduced himself as an executive of the finance company’s loan wing. He told them they would give him a loan of Rs 20 lakh.
“After a few days, the victim was told that his loan was sanctioned and some amount should be paid for getting it transferred to his bank account. On the pretext of various charges and fees, they took Rs 9.44 lakh from him through bank transfer,” said Avinash Mohanty, Joint Commissioner of Police, Detective Department.
After the victim failed to get the loan amount, he approached the police who registered a case and caught the three after tracking them to New Delhi.
