Hyderabad: The Ghatkesar police caught three persons, including a woman, in illegal possession of drugs at the Outer Ring Road on Tuesday. Police seized 1.3 grams of marijuana, 6.1 grams of Methamphetine, 1.6 grams of MDMA and 0.4 grams of LSD blots and a car from them. They had procured drugs from Goa for self-consumption on New Year’s Eve, police said.

The arrested persons were Mohd Zameer Siddique (28) from Mehdipatnam, P Ramya (32), a software employee from Almasguda and K Akhil (31), also from Almasguda.

According to the police, the trio came into contact through a mobile application and started discussing drug substances and their businesses. They met in person at a pub in Gachibowli. Akhil, who frequently visited Goa, purchased various psychotropic drug substances from local drug peddlers and shared them Siddique and Ramya too.

“They planned to consume drugs on the New Year’s Eve and as per their plan, Akhil sent Siddique and Ramya to Goa to purchase drugs from a peddler. They procured drugs worth nearly Rs 25,000, with the money being transferred by Akhil,” an official said.

On return, the three decided to meet at the under bridge in ORR in Ghatkesar, where they were nabbed by a police team. The Ghatkesar police booked a case and are investigating.

Three arrested, 3.5 litre hash oil seized

In another case, three others who were allegedly selling hash oil were caught by the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force on Wednesday. The police seized 3.6 litres of hash oil from them.

Acting on a tip off, the Task Force (West) caught one Sampathi Kiran Kumar alias John (25), a native of Visakhapatnam. “Kiran purchased 1.5 litre of hash oil from one Vinod at a low price in Visakhapatnam and brought it to the city. He attempted to sell it at higher price in the city. On information the police caught him and seized the material,” City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said.

In another case, two persons Mohd Irfan (23) of Falaknuma and Shaik Kamal (21) of Yapral were caught by the Commissioner’s Task Force (South), with two litres of hash oil being seized from them.

“Both of them were planning to sell it during the New Year celebrations when the demand for the drugs is high. The contraband was bought from one Gautham, of Paderu of Andhra Pradesh recently,” Anjani Kumar said, adding that two cases are registered in this regard at Golconda police station and Falaknuma police station.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner said the police were on an alert in view of the approaching New Year celebrations and were keeping surveillance on drug cartels. He asked the public to inform the police about any dealings or sale of drugs anywhere in the city.
