Hyderabad: Three members of family die by suicide on railway tracks in Cherlapally
Three members of a family allegedly died by suicide after jumping in front of an MMTS train at Cherlapally on Saturday morning. The Government Railway Police shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination and registered a case.
Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a three-member family allegedly died by suicide at Cherlapally railway station on Friday night.
They were identified as Pinninti Vijaya Shanthi Reddy (35), a resident of Harithaharam Colony in Boduppal, and her two children, Chetana (18) and Vishal Reddy (17). Chetana was pursuing Intermediate second year, while her younger brother Vishal was studying Intermediate first year.
According to DSP Government Railway Police (Secunderabad) SN Javeed, the family resided at Harithaharam Colony in Boduppal on the city outskirts, and her husband Surender Reddy works in a private company in a Middle East country and occasionally visited the family.
On Friday, Vijaya Shanthi, who was staying along with her mother at the house in Boduppal, left the house in a car around 6 pm. She then headed to the residential colleges in the vehicle and picked up her son and daughter.
“The family came in the car to Cherlapally railway station and parked the vehicle outside. Vijaya Shanthi, Chetana and Vishal Reddy walked towards the railway line and stood on the tracks. A loco pilot noticed them standing on the tracks and continuously honked, asking them to move away. However, they did not move and were mowed down by a train,” said the DSP SN Javeed.
The railway police, on receiving information, reached the spot and identified the trio with the help of the car. “A suicide note, purportedly written by Vijaya Shanthi, was found in the car. We are verifying it. In the note, the woman apologised to her relatives for ending their lives,” said the official.
The GRP Secunderabad police registered a case and are investigating.
