HYDERABAD: The elusive tiger on prowl in the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district has attacked a calf in Yadadri mandal on Saturday night.
The tiger attacked the calf at a cattle shed in the Rallajanagaon village. A farmer who had visited his field in the morning noticed the calf dead in the cattle shed, and pug marks were found in the fields. The forest officials visited the cattle shed on information from villagers on Sunday morning and examined the scene.
The movement of the tiger, aged around 10 years, was first noticed on Sunday last in Turkapally mandal when a farmer noticed the pug marks of the tiger in his field. The next day, the tiger attacked two calves at Ibrahimpur village in the Turkapally mandal and dragged away one of them.
The forest officials have set up camera traps in different beats in the forest.
It is suspected that the tiger came to Yadadri Bhuvangiri from Maharashtra after moving through Peddapalli and Siddipet.
