Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Traffic Police booked a total of 6,046 persons for using mobile phones while driving during a special drive between April 3 and 9.

Of these, 5,810 were two-wheeler riders, 51 were three-wheeler drivers, and 185 were four-wheeler and other vehicle drivers.

Traffic Police officials stressed that using a mobile phone while driving is a serious traffic offence, as it causes cognitive, visual and manual distractions.

This significantly reduces attention, slows reaction time and increases the risk of road accidents, endangering not only the driver but also passengers and pedestrians, officials said.
