Hyderabad: Seeking the blessings of the voters of GHMC the Minister for Municipal Administration, Urban Development, Industries and IT &C KT Rama Rao has said that the city has transformed into a major investment attraction under the able leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar and his stable government in the past six years. He wanted the people to give another chance to the TRS to consolidate on what has been achieved so far and to implement many more programmes to improve urban infrastructure.
The Minister and TRS working president speaking at the Meet the Press organised by the Hyderabad Press Club here on Thursday, said that the government will soon bring a new GHMC Act which will allow the authorities to demolish illegal constructions built on drainages (Nalas) even without a notification. “We are going to bring the new legislation by January or February 2021. We are committed to improve the drainage system under the GHMC area under the Strategic Nala Development Plan (SNDP). We will solve all land related issues that would benefit the poor and the middle class families,” he said. The Minister said that the State has adopted an electrical vehicle policy, to protect the environment and integrated township development policy so that the employees can just walk down to the workplace and have enough leisure to spend with their families.
Will submit accounts of Rs 67,000 crore
The Minister has made it clear that very soon the government will submit the accounts of Rs 67,000 crore that has been spent on the development of the city to the people of the city. “We have not increased any taxes or charges burdening the people. Instead we have undertaken several infrastructure development programmes. We have increased efficiency of all systems. But certain political parties wanted us to explain where we have spent the money and I am ready to submit the details each penny spent on the development of the city,” he said.
No place for Communal politics
Expressing concern over the efforts of some political parties to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in GHMC area for political gains, the Minister warned them that stern action will be initiated against such divisive forces. “We will not allow the brand image of Hyderabad to suffer in the hands of these communal forces,” he said. He reminded the people of Hyderabad the city is under the watchful eye of an able leader like K Chandrashekhar Rao and he will not let communal forces divide the people who are living in peace and harmony. He urged people to choose development over divisive force in the ensuing GHMC elections.
