Hyderabad: For those unfamiliar, Indiahikes is India’s largest trekking organisation, known for setting the standard in sustainable and safe trekking across the Himalayas and other parts of the country.
Over the years, Indiahikes has inspired thousands of trekkers to see trekking not just as an adventure but as a way to grow, learn, and connect with nature.
The InTrek Communities are a new initiative by Indiahikes — local chapters run by trekkers themselves in cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and others. These communities bring together people who have trekked with Indiahikes (and those who wish to) to continue their journey of learning and exploration even off the mountains. They organise local hikes, clean-up drives, nature walks, documentation treks and conventions that celebrate their shared purpose.
The Hyderabad InTrek Convention, hosted at the cultural hub Lamakaan, captured this spirit beautifully. Over 100 trekkers came together to share experiences, revisit milestones and plan the road ahead.
The day began with a warm welcome and reflections on how far the community had come — from a small group of like-minded trekkers to a growing network of outdoor enthusiasts. There were inspiring stories, laughter and moments of deep connection. The highlight of the day was a talk by Arjun Majumdar, founder and CEO of Indiahikes, who shared the story of how Indiahikes began and how community-driven trekking is shaping the future of the sport in India.
True to the Hyderabad spirit, the event was well-organised and full of energy, passion and purpose. As the day drew to a close, one message stood out clearly: trekking may start in the mountains, but its true journey continues in the community.
The Hyderabad InTrek Community ended the convention with a renewed commitment — to keep learning, leading and growing together.
