Hyderabad: The Chandanagar police on Friday arrested a truck driver and a supervisor in a hit-and-run case of a BHEL employee at Serilingampally last week. They were booked under culpable homicide not amounting to murder, police said.

On June 5 morning, the suspect Chotu Munda drove the truck in a rash and negligent manner and hit the scooter of Shahid Abdullah (35) of Bandlaguda. Abdullah fell on the road and died on the spot due to grievous bleeding injuries.

The supervisor, D Santosh Varma, though having clear knowledge that heavy motor vehicles are not allowed to move in the city between 6 am and 3 pm, and also knowing clearly that it was dangerous and can cause serious accidents, allowed the truck. The duo was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.

The Cyberabad Traffic Police urged the drivers and owners of heavy transport vehicles to educate themselves about traffic rules and regulations regularly in view of road safety.
